He was exhausted and curled up for a little nap.

Life has been pretty quiet with Finn for the last few weeks. He is eating, resting and getting stronger. He is also getting more vocal and often expresses his concern when he is unsure of what is happening around him. I met a vet who has much experience with special needs cats. I shared with her the problem I was having with all litters. Because Finn sometimes has to sit down when he uses the box, he would often have pieces of litter stuck to his side. This would happen even with "non-tracking" litter. She recommended a special system that uses solid litter pellets and puppy pads in a tray below the box. This system works great for Finn and he took to it right away. Keeping himself neat and clean is now much easier! Finn is finally starting to fill out around his shoulder area. We are hoping he will soon be strong enough for his surgery and visit to the eye doctor. Then he will be ready to go to his forever home.

ReplyDeleteHi Janette, lovely to get the update on Finn. Did my Finn kittybank boost arrive, not heard, as there were some probs with the paypal link I enclose the internet link above for your view, looking thru I found a pic of Finn with the caption" Finn is ready for his adoption now", yet your blog does not support this statement. Love Finns mini tower, he should begin to learn confidence. david and Milady in France
Hi Janette, please ignore the above query re kittybank, So many links to Finn on my pc I didn't find the right one for your acknowledgement. I'm a bit of a fumbler, just figuring out how blog pages work.
ReplyDeleteFinn looks so relaxed and content, lovely to see. Will the adopter continue with news and pics? Hope so, be a shame to lose touch with him, he captured a lot of me.
Hi David & Milady,
DeleteI don't know who posted that Finn is ready for adoption, but that is not true. He will go to the vet next week for a follow-up exam. If he is strong enough for surgery, I will schedule it. After his surgery and an eye exam he will be ready to move on. I know he will find a loving home when he can have the run of the house. Thanks so much for your interest and support. I am enjoying my time with Finn - he is really a special guy!
Hah! I was just coming on here to write to you and check how Finnn is doing and there is a new post! Im so glad you found a solution for his cat litter problem. My husbands Mom passed away recently and had left over pads that were used for her hospice bed and we now use them as puppy pads (which come in great for the cages for our cats when traveling!) If you would like, I could drop some off and visit with Finn in the near future? And perhaps? in the future bring my dog with to see if Finn is okay with him? There is just something about Finn that I am so drawn too...
ReplyDeletePS Thanks for everything you are doing for this precious boy! (And for the update! : ) )
Thanks for your interest Heather. Finn is continuing to improve, but is not ready for adoption yet. He has met two of our cats and was indifferent to them. He was upset when our third cat approached him when he was sitting with my husband. He is used to a quiet life and we are trying to get him to be a little more active each day now that he is getting stronger. I will try to post more often. It has been a very busy time at the shelter!
DeleteI totally understand why Finn isnt ready for adoption yet. We are traveling quite a lot before the summer months start (and bringing all the "kidz" : ) ) so waiting is no problem for us. We have a "one in a million cat" (yes that was the exact quote the foster Mom gave! LOL) and he truly is. He does wonders with our special need cats. We were fostering a FIV+ cat that didnt like other cats and within 1 hour they were buds and within 3 days all the other cats were sleeping and playing with the foster and that's just one example of how he lives up to his desciption!
DeleteI know you are busy and I appreciate the updates when ever you can do it. I will continue to send good thoughts for you and Finn...
I've been looking every day for an update - thank you! I love this kitty and am so glad he is healing. I am drawn to him too. Kind Regards, Dinah Hale
ReplyDeleteThank you for your interest. Finn is really a joy. We have been so busy at the shelter that I fell behind on my updates. I will do better in the future. I know Finn has many people out there following his progress.
DeleteJanette - Thank you for the latest entry about Finn. I was starting to wonder if all was well. I'm so happy to hear (and see) that he continues to move forward and get stronger. You mentioned surgery AND an eye doctor visit. I recall you mentioned investigating his eyesight if possible. Is the surgery you refer to the neutering surgery? Or is something else being looked at? Thank you for taking the time to keep us, Finn's Fans, in the loop. It's amazing how he has captured so many hearts, including mine. Jeanie
ReplyDeleteFinn's surgery is his neutering surgery. The eye doctor visit is for an evaluation. Before he goes to an adoptive home, we want to be sure we have done all we can to make his life as comfortable as possible. Thanks again for your interest.
